  • That is absolutely what I would expect - to a greater or lesser extent - indifference, or if they are in a hurry or in a poor mood they might tell you to 'fuck off'.

So, this bus driver, risked the life of a cyclist and when confronted simply laughed at you. This doesn't need pointing out, but to him, the incident was not a big deal, I could go further and suggest he thought it was funny or even entertaining or he actively disliked you, but that would be speculative, but I think what we can certainly agree on is that he didn't think it was such a big deal.

Your patience in dealing with him in a calm manner wouldn't have seemed to have achieved much, he will most likely have forgot about by the time he is watching EastEnders.

I would guess that tomorrow when he is on the roads, he will still think cutting a cyclist up is not a big deal - after all he has been presented with nothing to challenge that view - an essential tool in reciprocal altruism has been stymied - the correct (and natural) use of emotion curtailed - the entirely wrong message has been sent out - the problem and risk has been passed onto the next cyclist, a chance has

I don't believe remonstrating to a driver in an aggressive manner can put across the risk you felt your life and loved ones were under. The kind of driver that drives to put others at risk for his own selfish ends, looks for a dispute at every chance becuase the world owes him one and will no doubt get off on the conflict, re-telling it down the pub at the first available chance..

"This fucking tree hugging cyclist cunt was all over the place so i put him into the kerb, pricks don't pay road tax.. am i right or am i right!"

"spot on Terry my son, half the cunts there are imigrants that can't afford a car"

"Thats it Dessi, those fuckers are out there scratching our cars and abusing us when we are just trying to get about and do our jobs. This one cunt decided to cut me up then fucking have a go at me. if i'd a caught him i'd a rammed that fucking bike down his throat!"

"Cant blame you tez, one less fucking cyclist on the road would do us all good..."
    etc etc

You might at the off chance anger a driver who was not typically a cunt, just someone having an off day, and the flash point would have given them a wake up call to calm down. but i belive that is the minority.

Personally, i am with you in the people national angry front. i'd love nothing more than to drag the offending cunt from the car and push his head into oncoming traffic.. give him a taste of what being out side that killing box on wheels feels like. but apart from satisfying my imediate need for violence and pain, that would only give him reason to hate cyclists more.
You would have to remove him from the road or earth for good, thats the only way
