As I drew up next to the truck, I ensured there was enough space between us. However, I wasn't anticipating the attached caravan being 3 ft wider. Anyone would have made that mistake!
I think a pic will help. I can't visualise the situation here... From what you've written (and I appreciate this is open to interpretation) you've pulled up alongside a truck (that is pulling a caravan) and only later actually noticed the caravan? Where were you looking when you were pulling up so that you somehow didn't see the caravan?
