If so is it worth having a drum/hub on the front or would you just go for normal calipers?
drum hubs are not as powerful as dual pivot calipers (but powerful than the old single one), however they're extremely predictable regardless of the weather condition and hardly need tweaking every now and then.
usually I only have coaster on the heavy dutch bike which need a couple hundreds miles braking distance to stop (but on a lightweight bike, rear coaster is plenty enough, especially on the missus bike), but coaster hubs plus drum brake give is more than enough to provide good stopping power.
