CrazyJames, what saddle did you have before they gave you the saddle? I had no idea that a new saddle would affect pedalling.
And was it the "EXISTING CYCLEFIT - ON OWN BIKE" that you did? How many hours did it take? And how much did the wedges cost?
Sorry about the interrogation ...
Yup I had no idea a saddle had that big an effect either!
before hand I had a Fizik Pave HP, and they put me on a Fizik Aliante, which is apparently better at stabilizing your hips.
It was the "EXISTING CYCLEFIT - ON OWN BIKE" it took an hour and a half including the fitting for the footbeds and wedges.
Overall fitting cost/price break down:
Cyclefits time/fitting cost: £155
Custom Footbeds: £60
Custome wedging: £22 I think..(I may be £2-3 off on that)
A Fizik Aliante in like new condition, off of a test bike for £50
On a less serious note, don't put teh custom footbeds in the washing machine at a high temperature.
It doesn't end well for all garments concerned.
I learnt this the hardway accidentally putting my stupidly expensive carbon fibre ones in a while ago, the carbon fibre part was fine, but all the liner etc were damaged and cost just over £100 to be fixed as I had to have it sent back to the people that manufacture them.
I'm not even reading your who's who of injuries.. I don't have time.
"i'm not slagging off thebikewhisperer"
" if you want the cheapest go with bike whisperer, if you want the best go with Cyclefit.....you get what you pay for IMO"
It sounds like you are to me and since you have no basis for comparison I'm still telling you your 'comparison' is full of shit.
What about people with no injuries? What was the total cost of your fitting?
My basis for comparison is the services which are offered, bikewhisperer might be really great at the bikefitting side of things, but I personally rate orthotics up there as just as important regardless of what injuries you have, thats why I think cyclefit is the more "complete option" have you ever had custom orthotics in any of your footwear?
I have had years of Orthotics being made for me, consultations, etc etc, so I kind of know what to expect now from a good orthotic/good orthotic fitting.
Even if you don't have existing issues, the level of support they offer, and difference in power output/efficiency they can make is substantial regardless of what sport you are doing.
If you are going to go the trouble of having your whole bike fitting analyzed, then the feet are just as important IMO considering they are the main contact point where all your power is transmitted through, so I would say customized inner soles should be just as heavily considered, especially since they promote long term knee/joint health, just as they would in any other sport.
