Its funny because to generate power in the bench press when power-lifting you arch your back in the exact opposite direction, between that and dead lifting/squatting, but the principle is the same you wedge yourself into the bench using your shoulders/back of your hips/feet altogether in the appropriate positon.
Some of the top powerlifter guys end up having really flexible spines despite being huge!
