There is a new campaign starting in Manchester against a local arms company. The company is called Brimar and it makes lcd displays and other components for display equipment. Its products are in service in conflicts across the globe. As the company proudly say on their website, "War fighters around the world rely on Brimar products every day". The devices that it makes have been used in the commission of human rights abuses in a number of current war zones - Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan. 'Target Brimar' is going to be a concerted campaign with the aim of pressuring the company to stop manufacturing, selling or repairing components for military use.
The campaign against Brimar is launching with a demonstration outside the head office and factory in Chadderton at noon on Saturday October 17th.
There will be a "critical mass" style ride at 11am from Manchester Central Library to the demonstration near Moston.
