The economy dictates the direction that politics will take.
Insofar as corporations govern the economy, this statement is correct. However, last year showed how even the biggest companies have little control over themselves let alone the economy.
The economy is driven by millions of different decisions. Some are more influential than others. A decision by a mega corporation will have a more profound influence than a decision by you or me to buy Knog lights rather than Catseye or not buy lights at all. But people can, together, change the economic direction of a country or the world and therefore change politics.
