From the description, he came right up behind them (not giving a decent wide passing gap) and blasted his horn as he accellerated past. Had one of them wobbled and fallen, they'd go under his wheels as he was speeding up - too late to jam the brakes on at that point.
I am sure that plenty of people will be looking out for Mr Martin on the streets of London in future. Obviously with the intention of wishing him well. Or something.
