Belt drive only has a limited future for bicycles, IMO.
If it has any real advantages then they are most applicable to urban and commuting style bicycles with single speed, fixed gear or internal hub gear drive trains. Conventional chains will continue to be the drive train of choice for geared road and mountain bikes for the foreseeable future because they are more flexible, adjustable, efficient and light weight than any hub gear options (even if the latter existed).
