  • Why so? Just out of interest?

My ould lad just recently got a Triumph Sprint ST which is pretty sweet but it's fecking huge (physically)!! I do feel that I'd want something a bit smaller/lighter but to be truthful I don't know why I think that at all :)

Well I guess I'm just looking at it from my point of view. Living in London makes me question having a sports bike with the performance and riding position not suited to riding round the city - so only geting the most out of it when I get out of London. I have ridden in Ireland and getting on to the open roads is so much easier, when a sports bike comes into its own. Plus the heritage and history of bike racing over there, especialy in the North. Then, if you ride with others, being on a slower bike is frustrating for everyone (although this is as much about the ability of the rider as it is about the bike)....For me, you are less liekly to be frustrated with a fast bike, than you are with a slower one - you can ride a quick bike slowly, but not the opposite. But if you are using it for commuting, carrying a passenger, touring, etc. then maybe something more sensible. That said, I've toured the Scottish Highlands two-up and regularly done the South of France and back in a week on mine, which is a bike made for the track.

As for size and weight. A modern 1000cc supersport is the size of a 600 from a few years ago, and modern 600's are tiny and fast as fuck.
