I would happily pay road tax and insurance if cycle lanes were more common, better thought out (i.e not dead end in to recycling bins- or 6m long) and were efficient to ride on.. the ones in Brighton are made of some material that requires twice as much effort to ride on as the road...

'Road tax' is 'engine tax'. We all pay for the roads out of our income tax. It's an old debate, covered on here a million times before.
