Cycling dismay as women's events frozen out for London 2012

It's a fair point, stelle, but I do wonder how much the laddish-cum-borderline-sexist nature of many male cyclists has on participation? We see it often enough (too often in my opinion) on here.

Triathlon seems to get massive participation from women, and seems to have a more enlightened attitude than cycling.

As does distance running.

Also I thought that, inclusion of a womens event, was a strong part of the bid to get rugby sevens included. I'm pretty sure it was the reasoning behind the inclusion of womens sevens in the last sevens world cup. Yet cycling seems to be going the other way.
