It's also incredibly hard to find info about women's racing and where it's happening (either that or I suck at looking for it) - I've looked loads of times and just got frustrated with out of date or incorrect info and given up.
Yep, most cycling info is impossible to find via t'interweb. And then you get to your first race and you have no idea what to do or where to go and no-one will tell you exactly what to do because they all know what they're doing and it seems so obvious to them.
Unfortunately Shecycles is now defunct so that's one resource gone. I'd say let's do it again but I don't know if I believe the interest is there to sustain it.
The only way to get into the loop is to go do it, and then you meet people who say 'oh, are you doing this race?' and it spirals from there. I appreciate this isn't the most effective way of marketing a sport!
Obviously the answer is to make everyone watch American Flyers.
