It is a bit dumb..
at least bung in the womens team sprint or keirin like the worlds, make it at least look like something near equal, or just let VP into the mens comp, her 200tt qual would have put her in the top 6 men anyway IIRC.
having said that, the olympics is a massive and varied set of events, many athletes are only competing for one medal.
