  • Thank god - we've all been waiting for a man to come along and tell us what to do!

Anyway. I rarely go out without padded lycra shorts on, and really notice the difference on those rare occasions when I decide I can cope without. I don't wear anything under them, but I know some people like to. As with everything, I suspect it comes down to personal preference (with a bit of experimentation to find out what suits you.) I've long been interested in those undershorts you get (the ones that look like the love child of boys' boxers and cycling shorts), but I've never got round to trying them.

And Sudocreme FTW. Put a big handful in your shorts before a long ride, and it'll slowly work its way into the shorts and (presumably) your skin, and completely stop the chafing. (Unless you crash 15 minutes in, in which case you'll spend the next 6 hours sitting around in hospital, squiiiiiiidging every time you move...)
