I've never used STI's but that is what our man here asked about! Also if it's a first road bike he might not be so smooth with downtube shifters and dropbars and toeclips and getting him into it might be easier if easier to ride. On the other hand I wouldn't bother myself, I'd stick with the accushift if it works. . . SS anyone?
