Happy to try one, in my experience an alloy stem lasted about a season of track use (including starts) before it started creaking because of becoming slightly waisted where the top of the steerer hits it. But 1) I'm not as strong as I used to be and 2) that's not a fatal amount of dosh to drop on a season's racing- not compared to fuel to Newport and Manchester for example....
