I think i misunderstood, you may be a mechanic but mechanics are always shit at explaining things to other people! My dad is the same. Or maybe i'm shit at listening? I dunno.
So what you're saying is remove the RH BB cup, then hammer the BB spindle through the left hand crank (with the dustcap etc removed)?
That would work i guess, but it's academic as I can't get the RH BB cup off either, due to a lack of any bike stand or vice in my flat, which is why i'm taking it to brixton cycles tomorrow morning. :)
