• You mean people get paid for writing this threadbare, facile twaddle? There's funnier and smarter writing on this site everyday even in it's current necrotic state. A rant? He sounds mildly annoyed, a little irked, somewhat peeved. I've heard middle aged nuns rant better than that.
    Ofcourse if you want a column in the Times it can't but help that daddy is Sir Malcolm Rifkind, star of the High Tory Scottish set.
    And then there's this about Hugo:

    How exciting! How original! How brave! I'll bet he really let 'em have it, laid bare some truths and skewered some deserving coke-snorting 'friends' of his. He must be the new George Gissing.
