    Matching pattern combo is excellent, but the tone-on-tone thing went the way of Chris Tarrant and assorted game-show hosts a while ago.

    Skinny ties are OK, but with the right outfit or cut of suit, otherwise they look a bit try-too-hard.

    Knitted ties are where it is really at.
