  • Pigs being wankers aside i still have no idea what these lot wanted to achieve, everyone i spoke to had idealistic un-achievable ideas, no planning and no way to execute. far too much anger and hate and a state of the art DSLR or camcorder (and not organic at that)

I don't tend to hold the lack of direction or realism against young people. That they're young means that they can still think that it is possible to go for the high-hanging fruit. That's refreshing and we need that dynamic somewhere.

Whether you can feel it yourself and sympathise with it or not, there is always a genuine cause for anger in such people, and it can be really difficult to channel that into something positive and productive. An event like this will really shape many of the participants and help them along this path--others will give up intimidated and frustrated.

The people who openly profess that they want to have a riot (very, very few in my experience) have the most to learn. People who are highly articulate don't tend to be given (much) airtime. I find it quite unfair by the press to interview random passers-by who may be unable to articulate their anger. Whether deliberate or not, it ends up being used as just another way of stereotyping protesters.
