• The Shuffle Game - Practice those passing skills

This game was created by UrbanBicyclist and Melbourne hardcourt polo. Original post found on bikepolo.ca.

It addresses the tendancy some new players have to take a swing (or many) at the ball without getting control of it or having the skills to swing at a moving ball successfully.

It's also designed to help address the tendancy new players have to ride with both hands on the bars (jousting style). Riding with both hands on the bars is bad because your stick is out of play. Not to mention the danger of having a mallet head sticking up into an opposing player's face.

    Rules

If you put your mallet hand on your bars anytime, after the charge, it counts as a dab(foot down).

If you shoot the ball the small end of the mallet that counts as a dab.

    Scoring

Each pass to a team mate before a goal increases it's value. In this game you play highest score after 15 mins or to 15 points.

As you pass the ball, you count aloud, when a player from another team touches, they start counting aloud and your count goes back to 1.

A goal is scored by shuffling it through the cones.

    Example

Jack, Jim, and Jeff versus Nancy, Nina, and Nadia.

Jack passes to Jim. Jim calls out "One!", and passes to Jeff. Jeff calls out "Two!". Jeff's pass is intercepted by Nancy who passes to Nina. Nina calls out "One!" and passes to Nadia. Nadia calls out "Two" and shuffles the ball through the cones. Three points were scored. 3-0

After playing like this for a few minutes, your mind starts to readjust... Instead of getting the ball and thinking "where are the goals?" you get the ball and think "where are my team mates"
