copper: most manufacturers go to great lengths with fancy paint jobs to disguise the fact that their frames are made from gas pipe. Making a CrMo frame look like it is gas pipe is either inspired or insane.

I'd chrome it. Or nickel for that vintage, not so shiny, look.

Mind you I do like that racing green.

I like racing green on vintage british sports cars. I originally thought that it would look good with white accents. seat tape tires.
