dude, dont take any of this personally or seriously at all. This is a forum, people say things here they wouldnt say in real life.
But a lot of us live bike, breathe bike, and not having one for a week (i presume you are talking about the daily riders) is like not having nicotine for a smoker. People are addicted, they're entire daily system, work/social group is revolved around cycling, people play polo go out on rides all the time. So asking them to stop riding for a week with nothing in return is too big a loss for them to cover.
Think realisticly, what are WE gaining from this?
Because we know what the experience will be like, and what affects it will have with its ups and downs. We know the answer to this question, its not interesting for us to find out, its interesting for you.
