another point against the winner stays on rule, is that it leads to the good teams playing more and the less good teams playing less - which will only increase the difference between the teams and discourage new/beginner teams from coming along (as they'd get very few games)

Seriously though much though I love winner stays on it does have a massive effect on how many people get to play due to the time constraints.
Maybe it would be sensible to rotate this on a weekly basis. Say keep Thursdays for team games and mix it up so one week is winner stays on, the next week two new teams are shuffled in, then the third week is winner stays on again?
