Aussie forest fires...

it's like here in the UK when we build on flood plains....
In Oz they build in places that naturally have a cycle of fires that release the seeds and rejuvenate the vegetation for the animals to feed on.

hopefully people will be more prepared from now on.

that describes half the country! it can be a harsh environment, but also very beautiful most of the time. people know this when they move there, and most think it's worth it.

fires are nothing new, people are prepared, but this one was just off the fucking chart.
