my pleasure. i think it's very difficult for non-Australians to picture the bush environment, and understand such an event. i like explaining it (at least the way i see it). there is a big debate about the best way to manage these issues, because it does seem that our climate is becoming drier and hotter, and it's not going to be the last time we suffer this. but making smug comments about it not being worth living here is not a sensible answer... read the comments on the guardian's blog and you'll get a feel for how strongly people resent being told they shouldn't be living in the bush.
anyway, i'm about to drive to the airport and fly back to london. it's gonna be a complete headfuck getting off the plane.
