FWIW, I have ridden a little bit around Dieppe, and I can tell you that it's not flat, although it's easily doable on a moderate gear (42 X 17 or so). Getting out of Dieppe towards Rouen is a bit of a fag, I seem to remember 1 long hill with cars hissing past my left shoulder at 100km/h but after 10k there are nice quite D and C roads. The descent into the Seine valley could be a bit nuts tho...
the last time we (hops, slamm, aidan and me) rode out of dieppe we took a back route that went along a valley. It was much flatter/quieter and all round prettier. So if we choose to ride we should be able to avoid that long slog of a hill
