I would say my issue is less 'how' religion conducts itself in society, but more that it does at all - (and here when I say 'conducts itself' I mean to say influence or steer).
I suppose it comes down to something like this: If you want to fuck yourself up the arse with a holy candle because your religion has informed you this is what the incorporeal nothingness you worship wants you to do - then go for it, get that candle up there, enjoy it, cram a couple of extra ones up there if it pleases you both.
But as soon as you start aiming that candle other less interested arses, then you should start to think about reigning in your superstitious ideas.
