  • The only couples I've seen on bikes recently have been riding geared bikes, mainly MTBs or 'commuters' and have been wearing his and hers hi viz and bargain basket cycle clothes. They've always looked very chirpy and happy to be spending time together in the Great Urban Cycling Adventure.

Speaking of cycling couples, I passed a woman on Regents Canal today, on the way back from my trip to see if Tour de Ville exists, who was fiddling with her nearly new MTB whilst taking instructions on her mobile from her boyfriend / husband on how to put her chain, which had fallen off the small chain ring, back on. I stopped to help, thinking it would be a 'quick win' good deed for the day, but the bastard chain was properly wedged between the chainstay and the chainring and I gave myself a beautiful bloodblister getting it out.
