Just to add this too the mix- the top of the strut towers is in the horizontal plane, therefore one cannot apply full body mass.
I now have two (2) contrary sets of instructions for torque settings, both gleaned from the Interwebz- one thinks this:
top mount nuts to 40Nm, tighten alternatively , wait a few minutes and then retighten to 40Nm
the strut stay to 50Nm, wait a few minutes and then retighten
The other thinks this:
The six nuts on the suspension towers: 25 Nm The two nuts holding the strut ends: 40 Nm
Now to me this seems to be quite a difference!
(Although the latter accords more with my memory of the instructions I had pre-well meaning trip to the recycling bin).
