My tip is worry about just time or just mileage not both

Accepted wisdom says that time spent running is more important than distance covered. Personally I find this a bit naf, as we all like to think in terms of how far we can run.

3 miles without stopping is bloody good going for a first run. Working up to running a couple of miles without stopping is the first and hardest step usually.
I consider my first mile stone as being able to run 5k without throwing up or coughing enough to produce tears. But then I was a shite state when I started.
