That Livingstone is a power hungry whore, without a shred of humility and a semi-closeted anti-semite to boot, does not make Johnson a hero on any level. Johnson was an embarrassing Tory outcast who - through a combination of Londoners' increasing boredom with Livingstone's antics, falling popularity of the Labour government and his own quite clever game of playing the bumbling faux-naif - managed to surprise everyone (perhaps not right at the end) by getting into power.
But hey, if that's the kind of guy upon whom you confer hero status, then enjoy the warm feeling it must give you.
