makes me laugh that people think it's a "new" thing
for the sake of fuck, people have been doing tricks on bikes since bikes were invented, and guess what sort of drivetrain those early bikes had?
Circus style bicycle tricks have been around for 100+ years, they still use a fixed drivetrain nowadays.
the only new thing is hipsters skidding and trackstanding in a car park, hardly going to set the bicycle tricks world alight is it..
