I've never punctured my axial pro's and it's been a long time.
You can get panaracer tyre lining which adds extra kevlar to the tyre.
I use it on a rear 700c axial and so far no probs.

Gatorskins are cool and more puncture resistant. Conti have a few options inc the Triathlon and the Grand Prix.
