I've never owned a caliper with allen recess no no idea how long it should be. It's for the front and the bolt of the brake is almost poking out at the other side of the fork; if it was 2 cm longer you could use a nut. So, i guess 1-2 cm, but I don't think it matters hugely since the brake bolt is threaded all the way through.
