  • hello JDB, thanks for your reply,
    I'd love to see yours and maybe get some precious informations on parts from you!
    can you give me an advice?
    Do you think is worth to buy a new crank, threadless bottom bracket, chain, and eventually a rear wheel ( i'd love a flip-flop to "try" the fixed) ? ? ?
    this will sum up to about:
    Sugino RD 165 Fixed Wheel Chainset = £60
    threadless bb = £20 (u can tell me this one)
    chain = £10
    total= £90

    • rearwheel with flip flop hub = £70 (starting price)
      Total= 160 + labour (that i might be able to do....maybe with a little help... :-) )

    Considering I bought the bike for £70
    total after work will be 230 to 260 for a nice single speed/fixie (with a crap old front wheel etc and few more parts to replace...)

    I mean a fuji track bike starts at £280 + £50 for a brake = £330
    http://biddlebikes.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=162
    and charge or Kona Paddy wagon etc are priced a bit more around 350 etc.
    or bianchi corsa £400
    I know they don't look sexy and I really would like a nice bike (i love the bianchi but i really need a freewheel so i will have to replace the wheel etc etc)

    What do you suggest ? what pro/cons there are in buying a new bike or converting the exhisting one? do yiou personally suggest the conversion on the cheap?

    thanks for your time and any suggestion welcome!
