Bit of shitty attitude by that guy. But five years is a long time and a bike could be stolen and sold twenty time over in that period. If I were him I would have offered to sell it back to you at a fair price.
Actually, if I were him I would have checked out your story and given the bike back free of charge because that's the sort of thing that makes me happy.
At least the bike isn't at the bottom of the Grand Union, that alone is nice to know in a way.
