As I was walking into work today (Got a client meeting, can't ride) along Commercial Street I passed an old guy talking on his phone standing by a bike.
As I'm sure most of us do I had a peak at what it was and a shiver ran down my spine.
I instantly recognised the logo on the downtube of the bike. I had designed it!
This was a bike I had had stolen out of my garage on City Road almost 5 years ago.
As the guy talked I stopped and wondered what I should do. It had been far too long to be annoyed and/or think he had anything to do with the theft this far down the track.
I waited for him to finish his call and politely asked him where he got it.
He replied his son had bought it from Bike Works in London Fields (Does that even exist?). I told him the story of how it got nicked and that they were my decals (Can't believe the thief didn't remove them).
Finally as I realised there was no point pursuing it, he said "It's all recycling innit".
For some reason this made my blood boil.
I had admittedly bought the bike from brick lane 5 years ago, but thought then, possibly nievely, that as it was from a permanent bike stall in the enclosure, it was not stolen.
Anyway, wish I had taken pics now as I'd have loved to identify it. Geared/black/no decals/alu.

Want it back now. Bah.
Just thought I'd share.
