Ride for Tibet

i'm not going on this ride because i basically dont know shit about the politics of tibet/china, and after discussing with some chinese friends of mine, i'm still no clearer. on the critical mass list, someone also pointed out this article: http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4111 - i found it a good read which expressed at least some of my thoughts (about knowing nothing!) although i may not agree or believe all of it. the last paragraph, though, is good:

So to all those who so heatedly call for the freeing of Tibet, first consider whether you have the expertise to know whether Tibet is best served as an autonomous region or as a special administrative region. Understand exactly what implications such a change may have upon the economics and the daily lives of its citizens, or maybe even entertain the possibility that it's a decision best left to Tibetans.

for me, the summary fact is that i do not know what is best for tibet.
