Could also be easier to bung another one on out of the packet, instead of carefully adjusting gear cables?
This is only gonna be for racers right, can only see it making things faster. And the route of technological progression was chosen for the tour and similar races a long time ago.
You wont see many 'metal' bikes there anymore!
