Must admit I'd rather see that bracket in stainless than ally (it does look like ally, I'm assuming it is from the dull silver/grey patina), considering the vibrational forces running through it. Does look like a stress fracture at first glance. Poo all the same. I'd contact him about a replacement clefty.
