i'm thinking of cycling up from brighton, meeting the route just after the m25.
it's basically a walk with your bike for the first five miles but after that tis a good laugh if a bit hectic.
Never done it fixed but imagine the usual tactics apply, and though ditchling & turners are steep wouldn't throw on the 22t cog it'll annoy you the whole way, and so many people walk the traffic might force you to walk.
