Any I definetley cant think of any manner you could bond them strong enough.
You would probably have to get some super stiff New Balance Mud Hill running shoes for it to be at all pheasible, then is would still be shit.
Whats wrong with straps?
You get to wear your nikes, not clomp around in the local shop, and not tip over at the traffic lights.
