they always give out a load of bullshit about how big the blast will be as the explosive will have crystalised by now and be relatively harmless, if it did happen to go off it would probably burn rapidly rather than properly explode. when they blow up old mines/bombs they find on the beach they add a bit extra of modern explosive to make it look good for the cameras.
it's odd that you never hear of a ww2 bomb exploding when people or construction workers find them no matter how much they get knocked/moved.
