I've got some 182s coming, like most reasonable "race" type mtb shoes they have a stiff sole for a stable pedalling platform and power transfer.
so they won't be like trainers to walk in, but most people don't find it a problem.
the fn50s are a softer option, but your cleat will scrape on the ground with those I think.
as for sandals, you seen the weather out there?
