I know this is not completely relevant but I've spent (and wasted) loads on off-the-peg, i.e. ready-made-pay-us-what-we-ask super slick road bikes over the years. Last month I went for a fit at BJ for my first track frame and it was (take your pick) A.... like a breath of fresh air, B..... like a slap around the head. I guess what I mean is - they put so much into the fit I really felt like I was getting something I was paying for and they they knew their stuff and took pride in the whole operation. I learned more in 2 hours about bikes than in the last 5 years. I was (and am) in no doubt that your problem will be dealt with in a 1950's fashion, if you know what I mean.
A visit BJ in Leeds if you're up that way is recommended - just for the browsing experience if nothing else.
