I don't understand the "Quick Reply" thing, can't I just add to the thread?

Also how does one link to pages, post images, write in italics, crossed out, etc..?

you can change your message editor interface in the 'edit options' part of your user cp page.
Enhanced Interface will give you the font formatting and image placement buttons like the ol' forum :-)
