depends if you have a BT landline (dogs you don't have one, do you), cos if you don't it costs £125 to have one installed.
some ISPs don't need a BT landline, but most do (not much naked DSL in the UK yet).
Virgin don't. This is good, i'm getting virgin cable when i move to my new place.
as for getting a computer, steal one from work! rob a city boy!
