This guy has been doing conversions for a while. He buys old racers, matches chain to bar-tape / grips and adds £100 to the price.
He started off this time last year at about £120 a pop. Now he's up to £200.
Don't fall for it. Get your hands grubby. Buy your own old racer and get a flip/flop rear wheel with the money you save. Feels much better on a conversion you did yourself.
